In 1953, at the fourth Carrera Panamericana, the Borgward took part for the first time. The cars were driven by the Germans Hartmann (# 155) and Brudes (# 156). Brudes has early an accident and retired, Hartmann became a serious competitor versus the Porsches and remain at the top of the category till the last stage were, due to mecanics problems, he arrived at the final start for seven, out of time and lost the race.
